The Newness 2009

I am sitting quietly, thinking about 2008...
Whew, what a year...so many changes, upheavals and triumphs,
Not just for me but for the world,
A new President with new ideas,
Economic crisis,
Wars and more wars...
But I have chosen to only see what is possible,
Because one thing I know for sure is that out of the ashes come growth,
I remember living in Oklahoma and the foresters would do what was called a 'Controlled Burns'
Acres and Acres of land would be intentionally set on fire...
For a few days after the burn, the air would smell of smoke,
The ground would be charred and burned,
Looking as though nothing could come of it,
But as sure as the sun comes up in the morning,
Very quickly the grass would grow,
The earth would smell fresh and green,
And we could all see the newness,
From this I take the message,
That sometimes, every now and then,
Things have to be burned all the way to the ground,
To be restored with freshness and newness,
This allows me to stay optimistic,
This and my faith,
Because without faith that everyday is going to be a new day,
And no matter what went on today,
Tomorrow will be better,
God only knows where I would be and what I would be doing,
So I am just going to stay faithful,
Prayerful,
And wait for the NEWNESS!

LOVE AND BLESSINGS!
