This past weekend was stunning in the losses....
Bernie Mac, dead at fifty...
Isaac Hayes at sixty-five...
And while they will surely be missed...
Bernie was the funniest of the funny...
Never met anyone who could turn a twelve letter cuss word into a laugh riot...
And Isaac Hayes, Lord, he was one of my faves...since I was a baby...
I was a mere baby, when I first heard, "I Stand Accused"
And I knew that was the ultimate love song,
But something we can take away from this is that life is to be lived...
FULLY...
There was a time when I believed in waiting for the occassion to do something,
Well a sister is over that...
I do the things I can and want to NOW...
Trips need to be taken,
Laughter need to shared,
Dances need to be danced,
And LOVE need to be made...
Because tomorrow is promised to none of us...
I just came back from spending a beautiful 30th anniversary celebration,
And that reinforced to me that we have to take those time outs regularly and do,
What fills us with joy and pleases those we love,
Because no matter how we slice it,
Life is short and when it's done, it's done....
Love and Blessings!

Amen, sis. Amen. This is the truth. And so many or us need to hear it. We need to embrace life to the fullest! Like you said, when it's done, it's done... And having no regrets or what ifs would be a nice way to leave.
much love and peace,
Gwyneth
You are right on point there. Those two men will be missed.
I know tomorrow is not promised and I don't put off for tomorrow what I can do today.
Lady Gwyneth,
We better know and live, even when I was a young girl I could not connect with those who were always 'waiting' to do something!
That's it Jen,
Today is the only day we have, yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised! Live!
Smooches!

Welcome back and YES, YES, YES we must enjoy life to the fullest!
xoxo
I so loved Bernie Mac. I'm going to miss him. I went looking all over youtube for clips of him. Yes, we should definitely live as best and as happily as we can...and do all the good we can to as many as we can. I tend to be a bit on the morbid side, unfortunately so I tend to always think that in the end, we'll be dead much longer than we're alive. And am hoping and trusting that that place where the dead go, if there is an afterlife, will be full of great joys (minus the great sex, probably.) But I totally feel we should enjoy this life under the sun. And we must do all the good we can. Because it's our goodness in this life -- much more than our happiness-- that will count. When I hear that someone I love has died, I think: Have I enjoyed life? But I also think: Have I done all the great works I am supposed to do? It gets me working as well as enjoying. Death cracks a mean whip. -C
First I would like to say happy belated anniversary.
You are so right--we must do NOW and stop putting stuff off. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. With the loss of Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes, it's just a reminder of that.
