I am always intrigued with how people view me…
Yesterday one of my friends was watching me and my man with our Princessa,
And the observation was made that we are always in a good mood,
I smiled and said, ‘No we aren’t…’
She then told me that she hadn’t seen me in a bad mood,
I told her this, ‘But you have seen me quiet…’
I went on to explain that I decided through spiritual guidance that,
My attitude is the one thing I have control over,
And there was a time when I had an ATTITUDE…for real,
But I had to come to the understanding that not only how I acted,
Affect other people, but it affected my blessings,
Walking around all the time with my butt on my shoulder,
And feeling the need to always get people straight,
And to make sure I have the last word,
Was exhausting as all get out and so demoralizing,
When my attitude changed, my life changed and my blessings increased,
Now as to my man,
He is a soldier,
So he knows how to handle himself,
And those around him,
And he like me know when to go away to a quiet place,
Until he is ready to ‘act right’…
I can think of times,
When we are both feeling funky,
He sits on the couch flipping channels or go into his office,
And work on designs or something,
I usually crawl in my bed with a book and nap,
Or go to my office and put the crazies in my head on paper,
Other times we can sit side by side, saying nothing,
My head in a book,
His eyes on the tv,
Then after awhile, one will say,
‘Are you hungry…’
The other responds,
‘I can eat…’
That means we are human again, our attitudes are in check,
And we can go out and face the world,
In a good mood,
Because no one deserves to see us funky,
That be our business…JUST US...
PEACE!

I wished more people could control their emotions. I have to tell folks don't take my kindness as a weakness. Just because I don't react to your level doesn't mean I can't go there. I just choose not to.
When I'm in a foul mood, I try to stay to myself. I either read or write to relax. On occasion, I'll just go take a ride to destination unknown.
Sister Sheila,
we have to learn to control our tudes or they will control us...
Be Blessed!

Reading this reminds me of my own personal growth, where, through life experiences and spiritual maturity, I have learned the same lesson...when I'm not pleased with someone or something, I've had to become "less vocal"...after all, what good are a bunch of words and huffing and puffing (smile) to any situation? I loved this post!
Thanks S.D.,
I am sharing it as I learn it, I am a work in progress and what God blesses me with, I pass it on!

I will admit... I am still working on the attitude. There are days when its in check and other days, simply from the look on my face, people will back off and RUN!! I am a work in progress but I do see improvement as I get older.. :-)
I get quiet also. Up until about 2005, my bad moods were seen clearly across my face and in my body language. But when I had to put on my happy face to hide how I really felt, I never went back. Now I stay quiet and say nothing to bring those around me into my funk.
Sister 'Cilla,
that is why we work towards it, please believe there are times I have to check myself, just this morning I was in the weekly Leadership Meeting and a couple of time I had to laugh, almost hysterically to keep from rolling my neck and copping one, but through the Grace...I made it...he he....also, as I always say, 'we get there when we get there...SMOOCHES!

Sweet Jen,
sisters struggle with those facial expressions...but it is all good, we are working in the right direction....and that blesses all!

this reminds me of my lesson at church yesterday in the book of James about self-control. That, and this blog, so convicted me!
Lena,
well my work is done...grinning at my own silliness....
Bless YOU!
